A qualification in English opens doors to further study and supports children to access every other subject. We develop literacy skills; focusing on spelling, punctuation, grammar and expanding vocabulary. We will develop your child’s skills in reading, writing and spoken language and prepare children for English Language and English Literature GCSE. We can even take the fear out of Shakespeare!

At Key Stage 3, our English lessons cover spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and grammar in addition to reading, comprehension and writing for different audiences. Your child will be able to ask questions, receive instant feedback and build their confidence to achieve their Top Grades, not only in English but in other subjects too.

At Key Stage 4, our English lessons cover Language and Literature skills, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and grammar. We focus on reading strategies and preparing your child for exams; language analysis, structural features, evaluation and comparison skills. English Literature lessons are tailored to provide your child with a thorough understanding of their key texts. We support them to memorise and analyse key quotes and to understand themes and writer’s attitude. In English language lessons your child will be supported to prepare for essays by creating comprehensive adaptable essay plans.

We offer bespoke sessions for students taking English Language AQA or EDUQAS as not all exam boards structure their questions in the same way. Students studying AQA or EDUQAS must hone different skills in order to achieve the highest grades in the final examinations. 

In our sessions we cover English Literature, just let us know which texts your child is studying and we can adapt our sessions accordingly.
